Student answer (Band 5.5)
Smoking is bad for the human body and a cause of cancer. The government should ban this.
Smoking is bad for human health. There are too many ways to reduce smoking. People should be aware of cancers.
In this generation people smoke so often to look cool. They are inspired by movies, influencers, or family members who smoke a lot. The government should not do this kind of thing, and also the government should impose taxes on smoking-making factories.
In my opinion, people should not smoke. The main cause of cancer is mainly cancer. Also, smoking kills people and his friends and family who spend much time with smokers. The government should raise the prices so people cannot afford them. Actors should not promote cancer-thing that harms normal people just for money. If smoking stops, then jobs will go down and the country will change economically. Workers might have lost their jobs.
In conclusion, smoking kills people, and the government should not promote these kinds of things, whereas if this fectores stops and banned, workers might have lost jobs.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 179 words. This significantly limits the development of ideas. While you present a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and repetitive. For instance, the point about economic impact is mentioned but not explored with sufficient depth or supporting evidence. To improve, you must expand on your main points by providing specific examples, logical consequences, or counter-arguments. The current structure is too brief to fully address the complexity of the prompt, resulting in a superficial treatment of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is disjointed. Some sentences, such as 'The main cause of cancer is mainly cancer,' are illogical and hinder the flow of the argument. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and sometimes repetitive manner (e.g., 'Also,' 'In conclusion'). The connection between the economic impact of banning smoking and the health arguments is weak, making the overall structure feel fragmented. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that transitions logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on simple terms like 'bad,' 'things,' and 'people' throughout the text. There are also instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'cancer-thing' and 'smoking-making factories,' which are not appropriate for an academic essay. To achieve a higher band score, you need to use more precise, academic vocabulary to express your ideas. For example, instead of 'bad for human health,' you could use 'detrimental to public health.' Expanding your range of collocations and avoiding informal or invented terms will significantly improve your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentences, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Examples include 'workers might have lost their jobs' (incorrect tense usage) and 'if this fectores stops and banned' (incorrect verb form and spelling). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure is often simplistic. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage. You should also practice constructing more complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control, while ensuring that these structures remain accurate.
