Smoking is consider one the major problem of the country as it can create so many diseases to the smokers like lung cancer, heart disease. It is very dangerous disease. I believe that smoking is harmful, but i don't think it should be made illegal. Instead, government should impose more tax and strict rules and regulations on it.

On one hand, smoking is very harmful for both smokers and non-smokers s it can create so many diseases. It not only affect the smoker but also non-smoker by passive smoking in public places the friends, family member and other people need to deal with it. It is very harmful for health. The government need to spent large amount on healthcare. The government should impose strict rules and regulations on it.

On the other hand, banning the smoking entirely is not effective. As people will take nicotine and other things which give them the feeling of smoking it will harm more to them. The government is also earning money from it as the tax is getting to government from it. Large number of people are smoking in country the government is also earning large amount of money from it. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that smoking should not be illegal but rather heavily regulated. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic impact of tax revenue and the potential ineffectiveness of a total ban. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly regarding the government's role in taxation and awareness campaigns. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' behind your arguments with more specific examples or deeper analysis of the social consequences, rather than restating the same points in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic attempt at using cohesive devices like 'On one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion.' However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of cohesive devices is limited. For example, the transition between the health risks and the economic arguments could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'it will harm more to them,' which lacks a precise antecedent. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'harmful,' 'dangerous,' and 'create diseases.' There is some repetition of phrases such as 'government should impose' and 'earning money.' While the meaning is always clear, there is little evidence of less common lexical items or idiomatic language. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to public health and policy, such as 'detrimental,' 'legislation,' 'revenue streams,' or 'mitigation strategies,' to demonstrate a wider range of expression.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'government need to spent'), article usage (e.g., 'major problem of the country'), and word order or tense errors (e.g., 'government will not made it illegal'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent verb tenses will help improve your accuracy significantly.
