Student answer (Band 5.5)
Smoking causes the invention of many serious diseases, and it should be ban.
In today's society, the issue of smoking and its impact on health continues to be a topic of debate. While some argue for making smoking illegal due to its serious health consequences, I have a different perspective on this matter.
Smoking directly attack on our lungs and causes problem in breathing and long-term causes major disease where the smoker cannot easily rehabilitate.
According to my thought, I am rigidly agree with statement we should be made illegal furthermore we should ban the sigrate and make the legal fine at smoker and their dealers. It's also integrate the environment and encourage the young to involve in this bad habit which can create the problem with their heallth. On the other hand, thousand of people over the world died because of smoking and causes the serious health problem. Mostly people never quit the smoking at the end of his life.
According to the study, a packet of sigrate reduce the five minutes of your life. Nevertheless, some people continuously drop their health during the smoking. When the smoker exhales the smoke, its also effect on the nearly people who can inhale this.
In conclusion, the detrimental health effects of smoking and its impact on individuals and society as a whole make a compelling case for it to be made illegal. By taking this step, the prevalence of smoking-related illnesses could be reduced, protecting both smokers and non-smokers from the harmful effects of tobacco.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of banning smoking. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention health consequences and environmental impacts, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about 'five minutes of life' is a good start but is not fully integrated into a coherent argument. The position is clear throughout, but the supporting points could be more logically extended to reach a higher band. The essay meets the basic requirements of the task but lacks the sophisticated development expected at higher levels.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'According to my thought' and 'Nevertheless' are used in ways that do not always fit the logical flow of the argument. Transitions between sentences are sometimes abrupt, making the progression of ideas feel disjointed. While there is a clear introduction and conclusion, the internal cohesion within the body paragraphs needs more variety and precision to ensure a smoother reading experience.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher score. There are several spelling errors, such as 'sigrate' (cigarette) and 'heallth' (health), and some awkward collocations like 'invention of many serious diseases' instead of 'development' or 'incidence'. You rely on basic vocabulary, and while you attempt to use some topic-specific terms, the frequent errors in word choice and spelling occasionally impede the clarity of your message. Expanding your range to include more academic collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently struggle with subject-verb agreement and verb forms, such as 'it should be ban' (should be banned) and 'mostly people never quit' (most people). Additionally, there are issues with sentence fragments and awkward phrasing, such as 'Smoking directly attack on our lungs'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of grammatical errors is high enough to cause some difficulty for the reader and prevents the essay from reaching a higher band.
