Student answer (Band 5.5)

Smoking can reason serious illnesses and should be made illegal, I am on the same wave length with them because of toxic chemicals and destroy lung tissues.

One of the major reasons for my approval to this view point is the toxic chemicals. This is due to the fact that cigarette industries use harmful chemicals and tobacco in cigarette which cause health problems. For instance, a survey conducted by department of heath and family wellness department has approved prohibition of smoking due to its productive outcomes. Therefore, ban of cigarettes improve health and decrease the chance of lung cancer it also help financially because people spent lot of money on smoking and when smoking is ban they save some money.

Another significant point in its favor is the destroy lung tissues and cause lung cancer. This means that cigarette making companies use harmful chemicals and tobacco in their cigarettes which cause lungs problems and long-term sickness and lack of stamina another health issues. If awareness about health boost up in the society, it can bring benefits in the form of more energy everyday and lower risk of long-term sickness and it also help in lower medical coast and eliminates toxic chemicals in the air which makes happier community.

To conclude, It is clear from the above mentioned points that the idea of prohibition of smoking and raise awareness about health seems practical and bring prosperity for the society and people. Therefore, it would be wise to accept this idea and promote it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of banning smoking. However, the development of ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding 'toxic chemicals' is mentioned in both body paragraphs without significant expansion. The supporting evidence, such as the reference to a 'department of heath and family wellness', is vague and lacks specific detail. To improve, you should focus on developing distinct, well-supported arguments rather than restating similar points. While the position is clear, the overall argument would benefit from more sophisticated reasoning and concrete examples to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'This is due to the fact that' and 'Another significant point in its favor is' are used, but the internal flow within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. For example, the transition between the health benefits and the financial benefits in the first body paragraph is abrupt. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the use of 'them' in the introduction without a clear antecedent. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'reason serious illnesses' (instead of 'cause') and 'productive outcomes' (which is not the correct collocation here). The phrase 'destroy lung tissues' is grammatically incorrect in its current position. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'prohibition' and 'toxic chemicals', the overall range is limited, and some errors in collocation occasionally impede the natural flow of the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Examples include 'ban of cigarettes improve health' (subject-verb agreement error), 'when smoking is ban' (passive voice error), and 'medical coast' (spelling error for 'cost'). While there is an attempt at complex sentences, they are often marred by errors, such as 'If awareness about health boost up in the society, it can bring benefits'. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and ensuring that complex structures are grammatically sound.
