Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, smoking is the concerning thing to talk. many Smoking cause health issues which can lead to fatal health diseases. I completely disagree with it and it should be made illegal.
Many people thinks smoking shoud be banned completely. As we know their are many lung releated issues are cause by it . It is cause major threatening problems like pneumonia and lung cancer. Studies proved that people who are smoking not only affect them but also other individuals who are inhaling their smoke also affectes equally with them. For instance, one of my friends father who smokes 1 complete box a day almost 10 cigarates, because of his smoking and releasing smoke into air my friends mother diagnosied with the pneumonia which is all beacause of inhaling the smoke that have dangerous particles in it. She almost admitted in hospital for 10 days.
There are many serious issues with smoking as we know many citizens got addicted to drugs so sometimes they inhale it by inserting into cigarates. In addition to it their are many health issues like they get lung cancer and brain issues and they do not remember what they talk while smoking its affect their brain functioning. Futhermore, smoking causes many lifestyle disorders like diabetes, cholestrol, high blood pressure, thyroid many more like this.Few things smoking is like calming, but it is never relaxing it is literally making your brain sleep without working it properly leads to brainfog.
In conclusion, as their are many disadvantages rather than advantages to smoking. So, governmnet should mitigate this issue by strictly banning the smoking and imposing fine who ever smokes in public and punishing people who are selling it illegally. It would be good idea to establish many rehabitation centers for free so that smokers can get therapies from stopping smoking.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that smoking should be illegal. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you provide some relevant points regarding health risks and second-hand smoke, other arguments, such as the claim that smoking causes diabetes or 'brain fog,' are not clearly explained or supported with accurate evidence. The essay tends to over-generalize, and some points are repetitive. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed argument supported by clear reasoning rather than listing numerous health issues without sufficient elaboration.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In addition to it their are' or 'Futhermore.' There are also issues with referencing; for example, the transition between the personal anecdote about your friend's mother and the broader argument about drug addiction is abrupt and lacks a logical link. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by these awkward transitions, making the flow feel disjointed in places.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely on basic terms like 'concerning thing' and 'major threatening problems.' There are several spelling errors, such as 'cigarates,' 'rehabitation,' and 'governmnet,' as well as word-choice errors like 'diagnosied with the pneumonia.' While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and the errors in spelling and collocation are noticeable throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('many people thinks,' 'their are many lung releated issues are cause by it') and incorrect verb forms ('she almost admitted in hospital'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While you attempt complex sentences, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and basic sentence construction would be beneficial.
