Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of banning smoking. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you provide reasons such as health risks and the impact on others, the arguments are often repetitive and lack depth. For example, the point about 'family issues' and 'friend suggest' is not clearly linked to the argument for a ban. The conclusion is somewhat repetitive and does not fully synthesize the main points. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed argument with specific supporting evidence rather than listing general statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression between sentences is often weak. Many sentences feel disconnected, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, phrases like 'Once times a smoke' and 'Meanwhile, If can be avoided smoking' are confusing and disrupt the flow of ideas. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow your train of thought. To improve, focus on using transition words like 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'in addition' more naturally to link your ideas together logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'smoking,' 'harmful,' and 'serious,' and there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'smoking is directly affect of healthcare system' and 'authorities should be law the cigarettes illegal.' These errors occasionally impede communication. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise academic terms and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form (e.g., using 'addiction' as a noun rather than 'addicted smoking').

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that affect the clarity of your writing. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The governments is developed'), verb tense usage (e.g., 'The people are started to addiction'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper syntax, such as 'Smoking is damaged our lungs thats why the authorities should be take a bans.' While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like article usage and verb forms will significantly improve your score.
