Student answer (Band 5.0)
Smoking is injurious to health it causes serious dangerous illnesses to the one who is using the cigarettes I strongly believe that it should be band or made illegal.
smoking causes a lot of problems health issues skin disease smoking is the biggest cause of cancer now a days.
The person who is smoking is in serious danger but the person who is sitting next to him/her is also in danger because the smoke kills the lungs not only the person who is smoking but the other as well it polutated the environment .smoking cigarette is not only thing people using their are a lot other thing are avalible in the market like wipe etc..
These should be made illegal to the country because it causes a lot of harm to the country and its a waste of money people buy these thing for what to just make their self seriously ill .people doesn't know that they are buying serious disease to them self and also to their family smoking also effecting the childerns health as well.
In my opinion smoking not only should band but government should also take some action to the manufactures to stop making them may be this could help the society to prevent them to use of smoking . we as a good citizen need to take part as well and try to avoid the smoking and need to know that it cause as harm and as well as to the environment so we need to think about our self as well and say no to smoking.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of banning smoking. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention health risks and environmental concerns, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, you mention 'serious illnesses' and 'cancer' multiple times without providing specific examples or a more structured argument regarding the feasibility or consequences of a total ban. The essay would benefit from more detailed explanations of why a ban is the most effective solution compared to other public health measures. The ideas are relevant but remain at a surface level throughout the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a clear paragraph structure, which makes the progression of ideas difficult to follow. There is no clear introduction, body, or conclusion. The use of cohesive devices is very limited; sentences are often strung together without logical connectors, such as 'smoking causes a lot of problems health issues skin disease smoking is the biggest cause'. The lack of punctuation and proper sentence boundaries further hinders the flow of information. To improve, you should organize your ideas into distinct paragraphs with clear topic sentences and use linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your thoughts.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on simple terms like 'serious', 'bad', and 'things'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'band' (banned), 'polutated' (polluted), 'wipe' (vape), and 'childerns' (children's). These errors, combined with the misuse of words like 'effecting' instead of 'affecting', occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary related to health, public policy, and social issues, and ensure that you use these words accurately in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammatical control is weak. The text consists mostly of simple sentences with frequent run-on sentences and comma splices, such as 'Smoking is injurious to health it causes serious dangerous illnesses'. There are consistent errors in subject-verb agreement ('people doesn't know', 'smoking also effecting') and article usage. The lack of proper punctuation makes it difficult to identify sentence boundaries. While you attempt to express complex ideas, the frequent grammatical errors and lack of sentence variety significantly impact the clarity of your writing. Focusing on basic sentence structure and punctuation is essential for improvement.
