Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a partial agreement, but the development of ideas is limited and often unclear. While you mention health risks and the role of government, the arguments lack depth and logical progression. For instance, the transition from discussing parents in India to the availability of products in other countries is disjointed. The position is stated in the introduction, but it is not consistently maintained or supported throughout the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed argument that directly supports your stance, providing clear explanations rather than just listing observations.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is frequently interrupted by confusing phrasing and a lack of logical transitions. While you attempt to use cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'on the flip side', they are often used incorrectly or do not accurately reflect the relationship between sentences. Referencing is also problematic; for example, 'the same kind of behavior kinds' is unclear. The progression of ideas is not always logical, making it difficult for the reader to follow your argument. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring clear topic sentences would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate, which frequently impedes communication. There are many instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'illnesses iteam', 'damage the rips', and 'citizenship have to not bought'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to express complex ideas precisely. Spelling errors are also frequent (e.g., 'there' instead of 'their', 'Therefor' instead of 'Therefore'). To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning collocations and using more precise academic vocabulary. Avoid repeating simple words and try to expand your range to include more specific terms related to health and public policy.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often make the text difficult to understand. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the smoking can causes'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'in addition, to leave a beneficial life they are destroying due to, smoking.' The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions and articles. Proofreading for common errors like 'there/their' and verb tense consistency is essential.
