Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, many individuals are adducted with excessive smoking due to overstress in personal and professional life. I completely agree on this statement as I believe smoking can cause to various health problems.
First and foremost, due to hectic schedule on daily routine and people are getting more tensed due to over work pressure. Over tension is the primary reason to do excessive smoking. The second reason could be, in present times, youngsters are feeling under pressure while they are doing their academic journey. For an example, one of my colleague are doing too much smoking because of his work pressure as he is handling the whole sales team. He doing too much smoking to release his stress.
Another reason of doing smoking frequently can be the advertisement by some super stars. Moreover, today's generation are following more film stars as their role model. When they saw an advertisement from their role model that, they are promoting such products for daily consumption, it might be one of the reason for increasing smoking on daily basis. The high authorities should focus on such advertisement and take an action against the ads. Furthermore, government can make some rules for it so that television can less promote them.
From another perspective, doing frequently smoking in daily life can cause many serious health issues such as diabetes, eye damage and sometime it could be the reason for serious issues like cancer, stroke.
If any person is doing smoking constantly then there might be high chances to face the health issues.
To conclude, smoking is not a good habit for anyone as it cause several health issues and some serious diseases as well. The government should make some rules for those products so that people can make less advertisement of it.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have addressed the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of making smoking illegal. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention stress and advertisements as reasons for smoking, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. For instance, you focus heavily on 'work pressure' in two separate paragraphs without fully exploring the broader societal or economic implications of banning smoking. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced arguments, such as the impact on public health costs or the rights of non-smokers, and ensure that your supporting examples are more clearly linked to the main argument rather than just listing causes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
Your essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, you use 'First and foremost' and 'Another reason' to start paragraphs, but the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed. Phrases like 'From another perspective' are used incorrectly, as the following paragraph does not actually present a contrasting viewpoint but rather continues the discussion on health issues. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'When they saw an advertisement from their role model that, they are promoting...', where the pronoun usage is confusing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate to convey your meaning, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on basic phrasing, such as 'doing smoking' (which is non-standard collocation) and 'over tension'. There are also instances of word-choice errors, such as 'adducted' instead of 'addicted' and 'high authorities' instead of 'the government' or 'policymakers'. To improve, you should focus on learning collocations (e.g., 'to smoke excessively' rather than 'doing excessive smoking') and using more academic vocabulary to discuss the topic of public health and legislation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
Your writing contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of your ideas. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('one of my colleague are doing', 'today's generation are following') and incorrect verb forms ('he doing too much smoking'). There is a limited range of complex structures, and when you attempt them, they often contain errors, such as in the sentence 'When they saw an advertisement... that, they are promoting...'. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
