Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 181 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the arguments remain superficial and lack sufficient supporting evidence or examples. While you state a clear position in the introduction, the body paragraphs are underdeveloped and the conclusion is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. To improve, you must expand on your points by providing specific examples, explaining the 'why' and 'how' behind your arguments, and ensuring the essay follows a complete structure with a proper conclusion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay uses some basic cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'However', and 'Furthermore', but their usage is often mechanical or grammatically incorrect. Paragraphing is attempted, but the logical flow is disrupted by the incomplete nature of the final paragraph. The progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of depth and the abrupt ending. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph contains a clear topic sentence followed by supporting details that logically connect to the next point.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'crate major diseases' (create), 'use to this product' (used to), and 'impose highly tax' (high taxes). These errors occasionally make the meaning unclear. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to include more precise, academic terms and focus on correct word forms and collocations. Avoid using informal or incorrectly formed phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The grammar is characterized by frequent errors that often impede communication. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people are using... because they has already addicted'), incorrect verb forms ('it effect on the human health'), and sentence fragments. The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic tense and word order. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles and prepositions before attempting more complex structures.
