Student answer (Band 6.0)

Everybody have their own way to keep themselves relax and stress free . Some listen music , some prefer to do yoga while they are stressed and some do meditation to keep themselves clam and relax . These are the positive habits which do not not just take you out from stressful condition but also help to adapt healthy life style . But there are many people who just put themselves on some type of addiction like drinking alcohol , taking relaxation drugs like heron , and smoking to keep themselves clam and relax. People also use it as entertainment smoking now becoming the new trend in young people particularly in students. They do not know the consequences how badly it effects their health and not aware the result it had . Now there are different flavore also available . The increasing trend of smoking rising different type respiratory issues in people and even more fatal the lung cancer . The ratio of lungs and oral cancer are increasing very rapidly in the young population who do not have any other significant issue . Government should take some serious steps to control it and should made it illegal . Even its hard for Government to control because a lot of stake holder involved in it and there is big market which will finish but the lives of people more important than business and economy. I fully agree with the idea that smoking should made illegal and banned in our society . I am eye witness of an incident .i have seen a very young boy who live next to our home who use to smoke a lot . He almost use tow pack of cigrette daily and one he got sick and family took him hospital and he has been diagnosed with lung cancer . Family become so much stressed and even boy become depressed just because of smoking he facing the almost incurable disease now which will put burden on him and family .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of banning smoking. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. The introduction spends too much time discussing stress-relief habits in general, which is tangential to the core argument. While you provide a personal example of a neighbor, the essay lacks a broader discussion of the economic or social implications of a ban, which would have strengthened the argument. The conclusion is clear, but the overall structure feels slightly unbalanced as the focus shifts between general habits and the specific issue of smoking.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is occasionally disrupted by abrupt transitions. For example, the jump from discussing yoga and meditation to 'relaxation drugs like heron' (heroin) is jarring. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often repetitive or mechanical (e.g., 'some... some... some'). Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'They do not know the consequences how badly it effects their health', where the antecedent for 'They' is implied but not explicitly linked to the previous sentence. Paragraphing is present but could be more effectively used to separate the introduction, body arguments, and conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several spelling errors, such as 'clam' instead of 'calm', 'flavore' instead of 'flavours', and 'heron' instead of 'heroin'. Additionally, some word choices are imprecise, such as 'put themselves on some type of addiction' or 'the ratio of lungs... are increasing'. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'stake holder' and 'respiratory issues', the overall range is limited, and the errors occasionally distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'Everybody have' instead of 'Everybody has' and 'smoking... are increasing'. There are also errors in verb forms, such as 'should made it illegal' instead of 'should be made illegal'. Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with the placement of spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band.
