Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly in the introduction, the arguments provided are underdeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence or logical progression. For instance, you mention countries like Canada and Australia but do not explain how their policies relate to your argument for a total ban. The ideas remain superficial, and the conclusion does not effectively summarize the main points. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with specific examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is often unclear. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'In this essay, I will share my detrimental points' and 'on the other things'. Referencing is frequently confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow your train of thought. For example, the transition between the mention of other countries and the advice to avoid smoking is abrupt. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would greatly enhance the logical flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise, which hinders the clarity of your message. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'lings' instead of 'lungs', 'ills inhale problems', and 'faraway this habit'. You rely on basic vocabulary and struggle to express more complex ideas accurately. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to health and public policy, and pay closer attention to spelling and word forms to ensure your meaning is conveyed clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('our government are not concerning'), article usage, and sentence structure ('we are not take a action'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic syntax. To improve, you need to focus on fundamental grammar rules, particularly verb tenses and sentence construction. Practicing the correct use of prepositions and auxiliary verbs will help reduce the frequency of these errors and improve the overall readability of your work.
