Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the health risks of smoking and the potential for a ban. However, the position is not consistently clear or well-developed. While you mention that you 'partially agree,' the arguments in the body paragraphs are repetitive and lack specific, logical development. The ideas are often stated in a fragmented way, such as 'smoking is injurious to health it causes several disease,' which prevents a deep exploration of the topic. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on one clear argument supported by a coherent explanation rather than listing general points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the internal structure is weak. There is a lack of logical progression between sentences, and the use of cohesive devices is often inaccurate or missing. For example, phrases like 'most probably is cancer' and 'therefore smoking kill the people health' do not effectively link ideas. The flow is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. Using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' 'in contrast') would help improve the logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'bad,' 'harmful,' and 'issues.' There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'burning problem of younge generation' and 'renowed as illegal.' Some words are used incorrectly, such as 'optimizely' and 'sealed the industry,' which hinders clarity. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific vocabulary related to health and legislation, and practice using these words in their correct context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'smoking kill the people'), article usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, such as 'it is often argued that illegal.' Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before periods and incorrect capitalization. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses and proper punctuation, before attempting more complex structures.
