Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position that smoking should be made illegal due to severe health consequences. Key ideas such as lung cancer, mouth cancer, and respiratory disorders are introduced, along with calls for government action like banning imports and restricting shops. However, the development of these ideas is limited and repetitive, with over-generalised statements like 'almost high ratio in smoking people' and vague examples such as 'in india many people suffering from mouth cancer' without further elaboration. While all parts of the task are addressed, the lack of fully extended and well-supported arguments places this response firmly at Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

There is some basic organisation attempted through standard transitional markers such as 'On one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'Overall,' although these are sometimes misapplied. Paragraphing is present, but within paragraphs, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by repetitive phrasing and disjointed sentence structures. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and often inaccurately, such as 'reasion of high smoking' and 'how manfacturing the smoking'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, which impedes the smooth flow of reading. These features correspond closely to Band 5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and minimally adequate for discussing the topic of health and smoking. The student attempts some less common terms like 'respiratory disorders' and 'manufacturing', but these are accompanied by frequent spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'belive', 'effect' instead of 'affect', 'mounth', 'illeglize', and 'helth sickness'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and demonstrate a lack of precision in word formation and collocation, which is characteristic of Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but structures are frequently faulty. Examples include 'many individual belive that Smoking can effect serious illnesses' and 'the Government stop the company how manfacturing the smoking'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, article usage, punctuation, and subject-verb agreement throughout the text, such as 'smoking can cause alomst differnet disease' and 'the government shuold be made illegal'. These persistent structural errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader, placing the grammar score at Band 5.
