Student answer (Band 5.0)
In present era, serious health care issues can caused by smoking. As a result, it have to be restricted by government. I support the latter view point. My stance will be discussed upcoming paragraphs with valid reasons and appropriate examples.
On the one hand, by smoking, seious health issues can become a problem. Smking contain harmful chemicals that can damage the lungs and heart. As a result, regular smoker have a higher risk of serious diseases such as lung cancer, kidney damage, and heart cancer. In addition, Tobacco use can also affect a non-smoker individuals. smoking does not affect only the person who smokers; it also affect people who nearby. Therefore, restrict smoking can protect family members, non-smokers person whereas, teenagers.
Furthermore, if smoking has banned, young generation also be safe and protected by cigarettes. youngsters can easily become addicted to nicotine if cigarettes are easily available. For instant, teenagers may start smoking beacuse of the peer pressure or curiosity and habit.
On the other hand, individuals may feel independent. Adults should have rights to make their own desicions and choices about their lifestyle. Therefore, if smoking could be banned, it also considered restricted on freedom of individuals. Moreover, if cigarettes are restricted, many people may continue to buy them illegally. It can promote the smuggling and the illegal sales.
In conclusion, although use of cigarettes may feel liberty. I belive that restricted of tobacco have to take place. beacuse of the they also promote serious health care issues and non-tobacco user also can be affected. Whereas, use of tobacco should be made illegal by governments

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position regarding whether smoking should be made illegal. The writer attempts to develop ideas across multiple paragraphs, discussing both the health benefits of a ban and the counterarguments concerning personal freedom and illicit trade. However, the development is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly regarding health impacts. For instance, the point that smoking damages health and affects non-smokers is reiterated across different sections without significant extension. The reasoning provided is relatively simple, meaning the task is addressed adequately for a moderate band, but ideas lack the depth and extension required for higher levels. Despite these limitations, a clear position is maintained throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays a basic overall structure with clear attempts at paragraphing, introducing an introduction, body paragraphs with counterarguments and supporting points, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. The writer uses basic cohesive markers such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand', but these are sometimes used incorrectly or redundantly. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'beacuse of the they also promote'. Paragraphing is present, but the logical progression within paragraphs is disrupted by sentence-level grammatical confusion and repetitive phrasing, resulting in a somewhat disjointed reading experience.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The lexical resource is limited and displays noticeable errors that can cause some difficulty for the reader. The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'present era' instead of 'the present era', 'seious' instead of 'serious', 'Smking', 'beacuse', and 'desicions'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'peer pressure', 'addicted to nicotine', and 'smuggling', but these are often undermined by inaccurate word forms, such as 'restricted smoking can protect' instead of 'restricting smoking', and 'restricted of tobacco have to take place'. These lexical inadequacies restrict the expression to a lower band level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
Grammar and sentence structure represent a significant weakness in this response. The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentences, but many attempts at complex structures are faulty. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and articles throughout the text. Examples include 'serious health care issues can caused by smoking', 'it have to be restricted', 'regular smoker have', 'a non-smoker individuals', and 'if smoking has banned'. Punctuation is also problematic, with incorrect capitalization and spacing issues. While the meaning can generally be inferred, the high density of grammatical errors impedes fluent reading and prevents the score from reaching a higher band.
