Student answer (Band 4.5)
Many serious illness cause by somking such as lungs cancer, respiratory probloms and also blood cancer. Many people died due to extensive smoking.
In my point of view it should be considered illegal for under 18 years but also set some rules for smoker to avoid smoking.
Some people believe that smoking should be made illegal for everyone because it causes disease which are very harmful for human health and also for their physical strength. Smoking made them weak and they also died due to serious diseases such as lung cancer, respirotary problems and blood cancer. They think that a person how admits of smoking can not give time to his family and family members avoid them. They debates that a person who do not care about his health how can he become benefical for his country or homeland.
On the other hand, Some people argue that smoking should be illegal for undre 18 years person and restrict them from smoking. Moreover, they debates that goverment should sets some rule for smoker such as avoid smoking in public for example in parks, shopping malls and other crowded places. They also debate that goverment should be made some sets of law for the factories how produce smoking material by restrict them to set a limit.
In my opinion, Smoking should be made illegal for under 18 and if a person smoke gets punish and also sets limit for smokers.
In concuslion, Smoking should be restricted for under 18 and goverment should be abolished some industries how can not produced smoking material according to the Law.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether smoking should be made illegal and presents a clear position that it should be restricted for minors and heavily regulated for adults. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. The student mentions health issues like 'lungs cancer' and 'respiratory problems' in multiple paragraphs without extending the arguments effectively. While all parts of the prompt are touched upon, the lack of thorough development places this response at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, including an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which shows some basic organisation. However, the logical progression is weak, and sentences often feel disjointed. Cohesive devices are used repetitively or inaccurately, such as 'They debates that' and 'In concuslion'. Referencing is also confusing at times, making it difficult to follow the flow of arguments. Overall, the structure shows some organisational features, but these are inadequate and mechanical, corresponding to Band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with frequent spelling and word-form errors such as 'somking', 'probloms', 'respirotary', 'concuslion', and 'undre'. Words are often used with incorrect parts of speech, for example, 'Smoking made them weak' and 'if a person smoke gets punish'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic topic of health and smoking regulations, the numerous errors and restricted range place this at Band 4.5, which is rounded to 5.0 or kept at 4.5 based on descriptor fit. Let us assign Band 4.5 due to the heavy burden of basic errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying heavily on simple sentences and flawed complex structures. There are persistent, highly noticeable errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Many serious illness cause', 'goverment should sets'), awkward phrasing ('how admits of smoking'), and tense inconsistencies. The frequency of grammatical errors frequently impedes communication and causes difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 4.0 descriptors closely.
