Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt regarding whether smoking should be made illegal. A clear position is taken, arguing that smoking causes serious health issues and that governments should intervene. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For instance, the discussion on health consequences ('smoking cause serious health cause problem regularly smoking cause lungs failure') lacks specific, well-supported arguments or examples, relying instead on broad generalizations. While the task is addressed, the ideas are under-developed and lack the depth expected for a higher band. Consequently, the performance aligns best with Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The essay lacks fundamental cohesive devices and proper punctuation, which severely disrupts the logical flow. The entire text is essentially a single massive block of run-on sentences without capital letters or full stops ('smoking is one of major health problem in the world althrough all people knows about its effect...'). Paragraphing is poorly handled, and cohesive links between sentences are missing or inaccurate. Although there is a discernible overall structure attempting an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, the lack of basic punctuation and cohesive control places this performance firmly at Band 4.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily impacted by spelling errors. Words are frequently misspelled ('habities' for habits, 'dailu' for daily, 'conern' for concerned, 'addicated' for addicted, 'inguries' for injurious, 'externaly' for externally). The range of vocabulary is limited, and attempts at less common words result in frequent inaccuracies that often strain the reader's understanding. While the topic is identifiable, the lexical limitations and pervasive spelling mistakes prevent the response from achieving a Band 5, anchoring it at Band 4.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The grammatical structure is severely compromised by the complete absence of punctuation and capitalization. The text consists of run-on clauses linked loosely without appropriate conjunctions or sentence boundaries. There is a very limited range of accurate sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are faulty. Frequent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and word forms ('smoking cause serious health cause') cause substantial difficulty for the reader and significantly distort meaning in several places, meeting the criteria for Band 4.
