Student answer (Band 5.0)
Nowadays, smoking is a leading preventable life-threatening diseases such a stroke, lung cancer, heart attack and so on. So, I totally agree with the statement that smoking is the reason of dangerous illness and it should be banned because with that step we could save fewer human life.
From the childhood I heard a line "Smoking is a bad habit." But, when I studied biology I got to know how treatening smoking is for life. Even recently I saw one of my friends' dad who was a chain smoker, just lost his life at the age of 37 by heart attacking, which was shocking for everyone. At the same way, my own uncle who also smoke has recently found diogonising with lung cancer. So this diseases are something that really hard to cure and destroy a whole family.
In recent studies, I learn how smoke affects our internal body with many diseases. After knowing this, people still does not get rid off smoking as they are addicted to this. As a result, I think Government should banned smoking from the country. Because without making illegal, people are not aware of this, and it will take a long period to work on it immediately. This also rise a question, if government ban smoking how, bangladesh earn the profit from this. As in from tobacco bangladesh profit a huge amount from other countries. so we should also look into alternatives steps which will be more beneficial. government should arrange seminar and workshop to prevent smoking and take necessary steps to stop it for health improvements.
In sum, we can not illegal smoking parmanently for our ecenomic issues, but the amount of live we loss for smoking we should think how to hinder smoking. Because smoking is not only the cause of health problem to the smokers but also a threat for environment and other people who are beside the smokers

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The student addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position that smoking is dangerous and should be banned, while also touching upon economic counter-arguments and alternative measures. The ideas are generally relevant, but the development is somewhat uneven and contains contradictions. For instance, the writer states 'I totally agree with the statement that smoking... should be banned', but later acknowledges economic concerns and concludes that 'we can not illegal smoking parmanently for our ecenomic issues'. This shifts the clear stance required for a higher band. Personal anecdotes, such as 'my own uncle who also smoke has recently found diogonising with lung cancer', are introduced, but the main arguments tend to wander between health impacts, economic realities, and educational solutions without full, structured extension. These limitations place the performance at a Band 5.5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response is divided into four paragraphs, showing a clear attempt at paragraphing. However, logical progression is frequently disrupted by abrupt transitions and confusing connections. For example, the sentence 'At the same way, my own uncle who also smoke has recently found diogonising with lung cancer' attempts to use a cohesive transition clumsily. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, as seen in 'This also rise a question, if government ban smoking how, bangladesh earn the profit from this.' Cohesive devices are used mechanically or inaccurately throughout the text, and punctuation errors around conjunctions (such as 'so we should also look into...'). These issues result in a score of 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, successfully using terms such as 'preventable', 'addicted', 'alternatives', and 'environment'. However, there are frequent word-formation errors and inaccurate collocations that hinder precision. Examples include 'treatening' instead of threatening, 'heart attacking' instead of a heart attack, 'diogonising' instead of diagnosed, and 'ecenomic issues'. The phrase 'save fewer human life' is also semantically confused. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the core message, the frequency of lexical errors keeps the score at a Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though complex structures are frequently marred by grammatical errors. Examples of structural and agreement errors include 'smoking is a leading preventable life-threatening diseases', 'people still does not get rid off', 'government should banned', and 'the amount of live we loss'. Tense consistency is also problematic, shifting awkwardly between past personal recollections and present general assertions. Although meaning is generally retrievable despite these frequent errors, the high density of inaccurate grammar prevents the response from reaching Band 6.0, fitting comfortably at a Band 5.0.
