Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt partially, expressing a clear position of agreement, but falls short of fully developing the ideas. While you introduce relevant points regarding health consequences, the word count requirement is not met, as the response contains only 201 words, missing the 250-word minimum. This results in limited and under-developed ideas. To improve, ensure you write the required minimum length and extend your main arguments with deeper explanations and concrete examples, rather than listing brief points.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation to the writing, as you attempt to divide your thoughts into paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive, such as starting multiple sentences with 'Addition to this' or overusing commas where full stops or conjunctions are needed. Paragraphing is attempted, but some paragraphs are disjointed. To reach a higher band, ensure each paragraph flows logically into the next with a clear central theme, and use a wider variety of cohesive ties more accurately.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate for the task. You attempt some less common vocabulary items like 'testosterone' and 'addicted', but there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling, such as 'addition' instead of 'addiction', 'ban' used as a verb incorrectly ('should be made ban'), and 'physcial'. These errors can cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic word forms and collocations, and expand your range of vocabulary related to health and society.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The range of structures is limited, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, such as missing articles ('leads creative ideas', 'lose their life'), incorrect verb forms ('smoking cause', 'smoking should be ban'), and run-on sentences with comma splices. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader. To improve, work on fundamental sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and basic punctuation rules.
