To start begin, one of the main reason is most people are using smoking in every country. Because they feel well when they used smoking. Another reason, In my country many people are using smoking when they feel alone. Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that smoking should be banned, and attempts to present supporting ideas, such as health concerns and the role of governments. However, the development of these ideas is limited and at times repetitive. For instance, the mention of lung diseases is introduced but lacks extension with fully realized examples or detailed explanations. While the writer expresses an opinion throughout, the arguments remain somewhat basic and underdeveloped, which prevents the essay from achieving a higher level of elaboration. The reasoning relies heavily on broad generalisations without sufficient depth in exploring the counter-arguments or fully mapping out the consequences of making smoking illegal.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some overall organisation with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, and paragraphs are used to separate main ideas. However, there is a lack of clear overall progression, as ideas tend to jump between points without smooth transitions. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the overuse of phrases like 'Another reason' and 'Furthermore, another important point is'. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, for example in sentences where pronouns or logical connectors fail to properly link preceding clauses to subsequent thoughts, making the logical flow mechanical and occasionally disjointed.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and barely adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and word formation that cause difficulty for the reader, such as 'factor serious dieseases' instead of 'cause serious diseases', 'produce unlawful' instead of 'made illegal', and 'lungs cases' for 'lung cancer cases'. Spelling errors also occur frequently, including words like 'tabacco' and 'diffculties'. The writer attempts to use less common items, but these attempts are generally inaccurate, restricting the range of vocabulary and impeding smooth communication throughout the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The essay demonstrates a very limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside poorly constructed complex attempts. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with verb forms and tenses ('smoking are banned', 'cannot smoking'), subject-verb agreement ('careful decision are needed'), articles ('the result become positive'), and prepositions inside grammatical patterns. These frequent errors cause considerable difficulty and strain for the reader, as sentences often lack standard grammatical integrity and proper structural cohesion.
