Student answer (Band 5.5)
Smoking damage nearly every organ in the body including heart, lungs, Immune System, Breathing etc. Gradually the rate of smokers in our society is increasing and thousands of smokers are admitted to hospitals on daily basis. Many organizations around the world are trying their best to stop smoking.
Smoking should be made illegal because cigarette smoke contains thousands of toxic chemicals and carcinogens that has a huge impact on lungs. Unfortunately many countries aroud the world consider smoking and manufacturing of ciagrettes as a business but meanwhile their own citizens are becoming it's victim. Many people persure smoking as a source of stress relief and consider it as a solution for depression and anxiety. For instance many people nowadays consider smoking as a cool thing and if they do not smoke they think that they are missing a very crucial activity.
Day by day, a bigger evalution is entering in the field of smoking such as vaping. Today many youngsters are considering vaping as a seperate thing from smoking but they both conclude at the same ending. Smoking embrace many kinds of things but it is the key responsibilty of the governments to make smoking illegit as it is ruining the health of our young youth. someone said that "A cigarette is a pinch of tobacco rolled in paper with fire at one end and a fool at the other"
In my opinion it is the responsibity of the Government to stop the Smoking by capturing it's manufacturers and similarly it is also our responsibilty to promote smoking as a injirious habbit.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that smoking should be made illegal due to its health hazards and toxic contents. However, the development of ideas remains limited and under-developed. For instance, the mention of stress relief and vaping introduces relevant concepts, but these points are stated rather than thoroughly extended with robust explanations or detailed examples. Furthermore, the final paragraph contains a contradiction when the writer states 'it is also our responsibity to promote smoking as a injirious habbit,' which confuses the overall stance. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to ensure that every main idea is fully supported with well-reasoned arguments and clear examples throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation in the essay, with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but overall progression is lacking. Ideas tend to jump between different concepts, such as moving abruptly from hospital admissions to toxic chemicals, then to stress relief and vaping within the same section. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes repetitive or inaccurate, such as 'Day by day' and 'Today'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas within paragraphs lacks clear focus. To improve, the writer should use clearer logical links between sentences and group related ideas into distinct, well-structured paragraphs that follow a more natural narrative progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word form that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical inaccuracies include 'damage' instead of 'damages', 'aroud' instead of 'around', 'ciagrettes' instead of 'cigarettes', 'persure' instead of 'pursue', 'evalution' instead of 'evolution', 'illegit' instead of 'illegal', and 'injirious habbit' instead of 'injurious habit'. While the writer attempts some less common terms like 'carcinogens' and 'Immune System', frequent spelling and collocation errors restrict the lexical score. A wider and more accurate vocabulary range is needed to effectively communicate more precise academic ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The text displays a limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences alongside a few faulty attempts at complex forms. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues such as 'Smoking damage' instead of 'Smoking damages', pronoun reference errors like 'becoming it is victim' instead of 'becoming victims', missing articles such as 'in field of smoking', and incorrect prepositional usage. Additionally, punctuation errors occur, such as comma splices and misplaced quotation marks. To improve, the writer needs to exercise better control over basic sentence patterns, verb forms, and articles while reducing the frequency of grammatical mistakes.
