Student answer (Band 5.0)
it is argued by some indiviuals that smoking can cause illness abd must be illegal. I am completely agree with this this that is must be illegal.
The most compelleing reason for taking my veiw that, its leads to cancer in many of the casees and theere is no treatment in world for this desease which is a thing to worry about that futhermore its not only affects the indviual who is doing althougth its damage the peoples of its surrondings as a passive smoking is more dangerous then the real smoking also its has the bad impcat on the society and enviroment gets polluted by its.
Another reason for my position that, goverment should take the action and make but it is not sold to minors in many backward countries there bo policy about selling that stuff age restricition is important for this type of stuff becayse when a minor buy that things he use to go peoples who are older than him and they can even harm him or a bad socoiety alwats leave a bad impact on you and its a matter about which the goverment must make the policies and retain the indiviuals with the fines and inform to their parents that their child is using that stuff. For example a case in pakistan that a child is got rapped by his older freinds foe ciggerates if we to stop this we have to make the policies.
In conclusion, I totally agree with the opnion that ir should be illegal and goverment make the policies and do the implement. Given situation, it is recommended that if we want to protect our coming genrations we have to take the actions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position throughout that smoking should be made illegal. Main ideas are introduced, such as the severe health consequences of cancer and the dangers of passive smoking, as well as the need for government action regarding minors. However, some ideas remain under-developed or lack sufficient extension. For instance, the point about minors and underage sales shifts abruptly into an extreme and poorly integrated personal example regarding crime and protection rather than focusing on the broader policy debate. To reach a higher level, all main arguments need to be fully elaborated with clear, logical support and relevant, well-integrated examples rather than abrupt anecdotal shifts.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a recognisable introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, establishing a clear stance from the beginning. However, progression is sometimes hindered by long, run-on sentences and a lack of proper sentence boundaries, such as the lengthy second paragraph which links multiple distinct thoughts together without adequate pausing or structuring. Cohesive devices are used, but referencing is occasionally unclear or mechanical, particularly with pronouns like 'its' and 'that stuff'. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal paragraph cohesion would benefit from clearer logical signposting and separation of distinct sub-arguments to guide the reader more smoothly through the reasoning.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and topic-related terminology such as 'passive smoking', 'goverment', and 'indiviuals'. However, there is a noticeable presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'indiviuals', 'abd', 'compelleing', 'veiw', 'casees', 'desease', 'futhermore', 'altgougth', 'impcat', 'enviroment', 'ciggerates', 'opnion', 'genrations') and word-choice inaccuracies. Some word forms are also misused, such as 'alwats' instead of 'always' and 'rapped' instead of 'trapped' or 'attacked'. While communication is generally maintained despite these flaws, the high frequency of spelling and lexical slips prevents the vocabulary from reaching a higher standard.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, attempting structures like conditional and relative clauses. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text. Sentence structures are often unstable, marked by missing punctuation, run-on sentences, and faulty subordination (e.g., 'I am completely agree with this this that is must be illegal', 'its leads to cancer in many of the casees and theere is no treatment'). Furthermore, there are persistent errors in articles, subject-verb agreement, prepositions within grammatical patterns, and verb forms (e.g., 'a child is got rapped', 'goverment make the policies and do the implement'). These errors require some effort from the reader to interpret, keeping the grammatical score at this level.
