Student answer (Band 5.0)

Somking is harmful for human health. There is an argument on going to make soming illegal as it causes serious illnesses such as lung cancer and breathing problem. I totally agree with the statement as smoking is the main reason for death and harmful diseases.

Smoking can cause a cancer which is dangerous to health. As smoking a products like cigratees are being available easily in market, people smokes this products and invites diseases like cancer. In a recent report, it is mentioned that somking can attract 72 different dieases not only that it also affect the people how are standing next to the smoker and can be harmful to their health too. However, banning the smoking products will reduces the somker and also helps nonsmoker not to worry about getting dieases from inhealing oxygen.

Furthermore, making smoking illegal can save a bundle of money for individuals. Somking products are too expensive. If it will be ban, it will not be available and people cannot buy and can same money which can be used for their childern better future. For example, Indian government imposed a ban on smoking items helps authorities save money for not spending on the medicial treatment and use this amount on developing other sectors.

In conclusion, I believe make smoking illegal will help to reduce diseases and also helps people and authorities to save some amont on money which they can use on personal and public welfares. Als

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I totally agree”), and you give relevant reasons: health risks, harm to people near smokers, and possible savings for individuals and government. However, the response addresses the question only partially because the case for making smoking illegal is not developed in enough detail. The claim that smoking causes “72 different diseases” and the example about India’s ban are asserted without explanation or support, and the example is unclear about whether such a ban has actually been imposed. The conclusion restates your view but ends unfinished (“Als”). The response is also 8 words below the required minimum. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation and a specific, credible example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. This helps the reader follow your main position. You also use basic linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “However,” and “In conclusion.” However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear: the first body paragraph moves from cancer to a disease statistic and then to second-hand smoke without fully connecting these points. Some links are inaccurate or mechanical, such as “However” where the sentence continues the argument for a ban. References such as “this amount” are not fully clear, and the final “Als” leaves the conclusion incomplete. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph develop one main idea in a logical sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “lung cancer,” “nonsmoker,” “medicial treatment,” and “public welfares,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main points. However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form, and collocation errors make the writing less clear or natural. Examples include “Somking,” “cigratees,” “dieases,” and “inhealing oxygen”; the last phrase does not express the intended idea naturally. Repetition of “harmful,” “diseases,” and “save money” also limits precision. Aim to learn accurate forms and common collocations, such as “second-hand smoke” and “healthcare costs,” and choose vocabulary that expresses your meaning directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a conditional idea (“If it will be ban…”) and a relative clause (“people how are standing next to the smoker”). These attempts show some willingness to vary sentence structure, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. For example, “people smokes this products” has problems with subject–verb agreement and plural forms, while “banning the smoking products will reduces” uses an incorrect verb form. “If it will be ban” also has an inaccurate conditional construction, and the final sentence is incomplete. Practise agreement, articles, and verb forms, and check that each sentence has a complete, correctly structured clause.
