Student answer (Band 5.0)

Consuming smoking can cause serious consequences to harmful diseases and government should be act on it as an illegal activity by limiting the production of smoking industries. I strongly agree with this statement because lighten up a cigarette could be damage your health and it can cause countless diversity of cancer, other than that it reduces the lifespan of a person.

There is reason why government should take several actions towards this issue. Smokers had no effect on them by smoking but the real reason is it affects after the damage of lungs by 80 percent. By smoking in a public places they affect the non-smokers health as well, which can cause the pollution in a sofisticated place and more and more people refuse to come there. Governments should act as a public awareness message to reduce the smoking in a public places and maintain a healthy environment. For example, they show publicly the person who died of smoking cancer and tell them it can damage your lungs , your heart health and most crucialy your respiratory system.

Meanwhile, completely banned smoking should affect the government as people should take part in important role to do illegal market of cigarette. However, government should face several severe problems ragarding illegal activities and countless people ready indulge themselves in crime. To overcome this thing, government should't ban the smoking instead of it they create a public awareness regeme through social media or other platforms to keep yourself discourage from smoking and take inititiative in health.

In conclusion, smoking can seriuosly affect your health by damaging your lungs, heart and respiratory system. Some people have their opinion that it should be banned, but I strongly disagree with the solid reason, that creates the illegal market of cigarette and damage the society further.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You give a clear overall view: you agree that smoking is harmful, but conclude that it should not be banned because prohibition could create an illegal market. You also include relevant points about second-hand smoke and health damage. However, the position is not fully consistent: the opening supports making smoking illegal, while the final body paragraph and conclusion oppose a ban. The discussion of why prohibition could lead to crime is asserted rather than explained, and the example about showing people who died from smoking does not clearly support your argument about legality. Develop each reason with a clear explanation and example, and state your precise position consistently from introduction to conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

Your response has an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the paragraphs broadly group related points. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the first body paragraph moves from smokers’ health to public places and awareness, while the next shifts abruptly to illegal markets. Some linking expressions, such as “Meanwhile” and “However,” do not clearly show the relationship between the ideas that follow. References such as “this thing” are also vague, and the conclusion repeats health effects without resolving the conflicting position. Organise the essay around a clear sequence of reasons, use topic sentences to signal each paragraph’s purpose, and make links between claims explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “public awareness,” “illegal market,” “respiratory system” and “lifespan,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited by repeated use of “smoking,” “damage” and “government,” and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make meaning unclear. For example, “consuming smoking,” “countless diversity of cancer” and “sophisticated place” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “crucialy,” “seriuosly” and “inititiative.” Build a more precise vocabulary for health effects and policy, and check collocations and spelling so that your ideas are easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You use both simple statements and attempts at longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “which.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty, with frequent errors that sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “government should be act,” “lighten up a cigarette could be damage your health,” and “they create a public awareness regeme.” Articles, agreement and verb forms also need attention, as in “in a public places” and “smokers had no effect on them.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Proofread each sentence for verb form, agreement, articles and punctuation.
