Student answer (Band 6.0)
Smoking is a new trend which cause lethal diseases and there should be some restrictions on smoking usage as well as their sale and purchase. It should be declare illegal to prevent our society from such dangerous illnesses. I totally agree with this statement because smoking not only damaging our health, it is also effecting our social behaviours.
In modern days people symbolize smoking with fashion and style. In youngsters its getting very common with invention of vape. Which are very easy to carry and use. Our new generation without knowing their side effects just putting their health at risk . Lungs cancer is widely spread all around the globe as well as mouth cancer. Other than such diseases their are huge list of medical problem associate with smoking like, asthma airway infections and heart diseases. A smoker at high risk of heart and lungs diseases. Smoking not only cause damage to a specific person passive smoking also a great issue for non smokers because if you are breathing in such polluted air your are at risk. Smoking is not just effecting your health it also cause pollution for example we are facing smog issue in our region due to smoke.
Due to all above issue which we are facing their should be banned because it has not a single good thing associate with smoking. There must be department which control illegal sale of such materials. In Australia and Canada vape are not allowed and they are not available online. I totally agree with this rules because when something is not giving us a single benefit than why we choose a packet which is dangerous not only human health as well as for environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the opening and conclusion: you agree that smoking should be illegal. You address several relevant reasons, including serious illness, passive smoking, and environmental pollution, and the examples of vaping and restrictions in Australia and Canada help connect the argument to real-world measures. This covers the task well, but the support is uneven. The health effects are listed rather than explained in detail, and the claim that smoking is a “new trend” is not developed or clearly linked to the case for prohibition. To strengthen the response further, explain why making smoking illegal would be more effective than regulation, and develop one or two examples with clearer reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph presenting harms, and a concluding recommendation. Ideas generally progress from health effects to wider social and environmental consequences, so the reader can follow the main argument. However, some connections are abrupt or unclear. For example, “In youngsters its getting very common with invention of vape. Which are very easy to carry and use” breaks one idea into an incomplete sentence, while “Due to all above issue which we are facing their should be banned” does not clearly identify what “they” refers to. Linking phrases such as “Other than” and “because” are used, but transitions sometimes feel mechanical. Use complete sentences, clearer references, and paragraph breaks to separate health, passive-smoking, and policy points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “passive smoking,” “vape,” “heart diseases,” “illegal sale,” and “environment,” which allows you to discuss several aspects of the issue. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “at high risk” and “restrictions.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, as in “smoking usage,” “symbolize smoking with fashion,” and “a huge list of medical problem.” Some forms and spellings also reduce precision, including “lungs cancer” and “effecting.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main argument, but they limit flexibility and naturalness. Learn common collocations for health and legislation, and check word forms and spelling when editing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the contrast in “Smoking not only cause damage to a specific person passive smoking also a great issue for non smokers.” This shows an effort to connect related ideas, but control is inconsistent. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in “which cause lethal diseases,” “It should be declare illegal,” and “smoking not only damaging our health.” There are also sentence-boundary and punctuation problems: “In youngsters its getting very common with invention of vape. Which are very easy to carry and use” leaves a fragment, and several long sentences run ideas together. These issues sometimes make relationships between points harder to follow. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, complete clauses, and punctuation in complex sentences.
