Student answer (Band 5.0)
Any type of drugs can lead to death and cause many serious health issues. As we know, that smoking is injurious to health.
People do it knowingly because they get addicted to it they can not leave it immediately. I personally knew a person who quit smoking for about 1 week and suffered from high illness. When we took her to the hospital doctors said that she is suffering from lung disease so she can not survive more.
So, People shoud not hate that person who is smoking or take any type of drug. We have to hate the drugs, give advices to people to get rid of it. Smoking should be banned world-wide because it is reported that it happened in many universities, colleges, different workplaces and many other companies. Many young children and students are addicted to it when they get large amount of pocket money they can be use it on unnecessary products and on different type of drugs. Now it is becoming vey common in Pakistan and no legal action can be made on them. It is not only effect that person who smoke people around them also effected because of the tabacco. I agree that it should be made illegal. Government has to take strict actions so that people having concerns on themselves.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You state a clear overall view at the end: “I agree that it should be made illegal,” and you mention relevant concerns such as addiction, illness, and the effects of tobacco on people nearby. However, the response only partially develops the argument. The personal example about someone becoming ill after quitting is unclear and does not establish that smoking caused the illness or explain why prohibition is the best response. The discussion of young people and Pakistan also needs specific explanation or evidence. The response is 32 words below the required minimum, which limits the space available to develop reasons and address the question fully. Explain the benefits and possible drawbacks of making smoking illegal, then support your position with clearer examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is some organisation: the response moves from health risks and addiction to young people, second-hand effects, and a final statement of agreement. Basic linking phrases such as “because,” “so,” and “also” help show connections. However, the ideas are crowded into one long paragraph, and the progression is not consistently clear. For example, the account of a person who quit and became ill is followed by advice not to hate smokers, without explaining how these points connect to the case for a legal ban. Several sentences also join multiple ideas without clear boundaries. Use separate paragraphs for your position, supporting reasons, and conclusion, and make each paragraph develop one main point with clear references and transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “addicted,” “lung disease,” “banned,” and “legal action,” so the reader can identify the subject and your main concerns. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For instance, “high illness” does not clearly describe the person’s condition, “give advices” is not a natural expression, and “people having concerns on themselves” is unclear. There are also spelling errors such as “shoud,” “vey,” and “tabacco.” Build a more precise set of expressions for health effects, addiction, enforcement, and second-hand smoke, and check spelling and word forms carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response communicates its general position using mostly simple sentences and attempts some longer structures, such as “People do it knowingly because they get addicted to it they can not leave it immediately.” However, these longer attempts are often faulty, and frequent errors can make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include the missing punctuation between clauses in that sentence, “that smoking is injurious” after “As we know,” and “people around them also effected,” where the sentence structure and verb form are not controlled. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries. Practise building accurate complex sentences with one clear main clause and a correctly joined subordinate clause, then proofread for verb forms, agreement, and punctuation.
