Student answer (Band 6.0)

It has been observed that, smoking leads to serious health issues to the human health and declare it against the low. I agree with this statement to a large extent. All the aspects are discussed in upcoming write-up with valid reasons and appropriate examples.

The foremost reason for supporting the view point is health demerits to explain this, smoking is extremely harmful for human body because it creates multiple serious disease such as cancer, heart problem and breathing issues. For instance, according to who 70% lung transfer surgeries are done in patients who smokes on daily basis. To add to this, addiction is another factor. people has addiction of smoking even though they want leave it but they can not able to cope up with this situation because of smoking cravings.

Another popular reason is it is harmful for others who are close to the smokers, when people smoke in public places, they are not only harm them selves but also harms to the other people near them because of smoke of cigarettes mix in the air and spread and make air quality low in close area.

On the other hand, there are few demerits of ban smoking which can not be disregarded. To begin with it is an individual's choice. People have their own rights and they can decide things which are beneficial of detriments for their selves. Beside this, economic impact is another considerable reason. things which include Tabaco will pay more tax than any other goods to the government which ultimately benefits nations economy.

To conclude, Although government get benefit from the taxes, it have to ban because it creates health issues to humans.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree to a large extent, and the conclusion reinforces that smoking should be banned. You address both the health harms and a counterargument, including individual choice and tax revenue, so the response covers the main parts of the question. The points about illness and second-hand smoke are relevant, but some support is unclear or insufficiently explained. For example, the claim that “70% lung transfer surgeries” involve smokers is difficult to interpret and needs a reliable, precise example. The counterargument is also introduced but not fully weighed against the health case. To strengthen the response, explain why the public-health benefits outweigh personal choice and economic gains.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, supporting paragraphs, a counterargument and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from harm to smokers, harm to others, and then opposing considerations. Linking phrases such as “To add to this,” “On the other hand,” and “To conclude” help signal these stages. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and several sentences combine multiple ideas without clear punctuation, particularly the opening of the first body paragraph. References such as “this situation” and “things” are also vague, making connections less precise. Use clearer topic sentences, divide long or crowded sentences, and make each paragraph develop one main point with an explicit link back to your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “serious disease,” “addiction,” “public places,” “air quality,” and “economic impact,” which allows you to discuss both sides of the issue. However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation and spelling problems make parts of the argument difficult to follow. Phrases such as “health demerits,” “lung transfer surgeries,” and “make air quality low” are not natural or precise in this context; “Tabaco” is also misspelled. Some words are repeated, especially “harmful” and “smoking.” Build a more accurate set of expressions for health effects, passive smoking and government policy, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a concession in “Although government get benefit from the taxes, it have to ban…” and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, complex structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, articles, verb forms and sentence boundaries occur throughout. Examples include “people has addiction,” “patients who smokes,” and “it have to ban”; these should use correctly matched subjects and verbs. The opening sentence also has an unclear structure, while the first body paragraph joins a topic sentence and explanation with a comma. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and use full stops or semicolons to separate complete ideas. Greater control of these basics would make your meaning easier to follow.
