Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
Your position is clear in the opening: “I totally agree,” and you give relevant reasons, including harm to smokers and people exposed to second-hand smoke. You also suggest government action and alternatives such as meditation and exercise. However, the response only partly develops the central question of whether smoking should be made illegal. The claim that it is already illegal is unclear and is not reconciled with your later discussion of purchasing and consuming it. The example about heart and asthma-related deaths is broad and difficult to verify, while the security-camera proposal is not explained. To strengthen the response, clarify your position on a legal ban and develop fewer points with specific reasoning or examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “Firstly” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. This helps the reader identify the main stages of your argument. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow, and several linking expressions feel mechanical or do not show a clear relationship. For example, “even after it is illegal” does not clearly connect to the preceding point, and the conclusion introduces relaxation and concentration without developing these ideas earlier. Some references, such as “these actions,” are also unclear. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving to the next point.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “respiratory,” “addiction,” “profits,” and “concentration levels,” which shows some ability to discuss health and policy. However, the range is limited and errors in spelling, word choice, and collocation are frequent enough to make parts of the message difficult to understand. Examples include “hearth related,” “scentific reports,” “bring awarness,” and “smoking feel relax.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “got infected” for the effects of second-hand smoke and “erase these habit.” Build accuracy with common topic collocations and check spelling carefully. More precise wording will help your ideas sound clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You use some longer sentence forms, including “not only … but also” and clauses introduced by “even after,” and you attempt to connect reasons and results. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty, so the reader sometimes has to work to understand the intended meaning. For example, “an outdated issue that smoking causes serious problems” is not a complete, clear sentence, while “most of the death causes by hearth related” has problems with sentence structure and verb form. There are also errors in articles, agreement, and punctuation, as in “it is a illegal product” and the missing space after “levels.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them using controlled subordinate clauses.
