Student answer (Band 5.0)

Smoking is one of the major causes of individual illness in addition it harms human health alot. From my perspective, I compeletly agree with the statement that smoking should be made illegal or should be banned. There are numerous reason of making it illegal. The few ones are describe below.

One of the crucial reason it should made illegal is that smoking has nicotine and tobaccoo in it which is severly harmful to the body organs. Firstly, it affects the kidney and then to others part of the body. Morever it is some kind of poison which ones enter into the body and stepped out when it destroy the whole organs of the body.

Other reasons are that it make individual addictive and it is the vast cause of financial loss. Individual becomes addictive and they try to buy smoke in any cost so they sells all the things of house which are valuable they do not stop their with the rise of addictiveness they become thief and destroy society.Their are numerous reason and causes of smoking but the major one is cancer.

In conclusion, I would argue that smoking should be definitely made illegal in addition government should take strict action to remove it morever if it made illegal then there would be peace in society and society progress. It is also public responsibity to remove i

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You state a clear position—“I completely agree”—and give relevant reasons, including harm to health, addiction, financial loss, and effects on society. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because these points are mostly asserted rather than explained or supported with a specific example. The claim that smoking damages organs, for instance, is not developed, and the link between addiction and theft is presented as a generalisation. Your conclusion repeats your view but ends unfinished (“It is also public responsibility to remove i…”). The response is also 23 words below the required minimum. To strengthen the answer, explain each main reason with a clear cause-and-effect link and add a relevant example before completing the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing helps separate health effects from addiction and social consequences, and signposts such as “Firstly” and “In conclusion” show an attempt to guide the reader. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the second body paragraph moves from addiction to financial loss, then theft, and finally cancer without clearly connecting these points. Some linking is mechanical or inaccurate, as in “in addition” and “Morever,” while the long run-on passage beginning “they try to buy smoke” makes relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Use shorter, clearly connected sentences and organise each paragraph around one main reason, supported by explanation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “nicotine,” “addictive,” “financial loss,” and “cancer,” which makes your main subject clear. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “crucial reason” and “strict action.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive: “buy smoke,” “vast cause of financial loss,” and “remove it” do not express your meaning naturally. Spelling errors such as “compeletly,” “tobaccoo,” “severly,” and “responsibity” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of precise topic phrases and check spelling; for example, use “buy cigarettes,” “a major financial burden,” and “reduce tobacco use” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but the range is limited and errors occur frequently, sometimes making the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include missing or incorrect verb forms in “it should made illegal” and “it make individual addictive,” and agreement errors in “One of the crucial reason.” The sentence beginning “Morever it is some kind of poison” has unclear clause structure, while “they sells all the things” combines an incorrect verb form with an unclear subject. Punctuation is also weak, particularly where several ideas run together without full stops. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb patterns, then use shorter sentences to control complex ideas before combining them.
