Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowdays, the smoking habits become a threaten problem for all countries. This problem create different phenomenoun such as dangerous illnesses like cancer. I completely agree with this view the government should be made it illegal and be aware about this problem.

On the one hand, the smoking habit become more common in our society. People from all age are addicted on smoking. For example, at present students, adult and senior citizens are obsessed with this habit. As a result, it become common in our society. There are a huge number of smokers in our society, who the disadvantages of smoking but who care. They bravely smoking on public places. As a result, a significant number of people are suffering from few deadly diseases like cancer, strock and heart problems and so on.

On the other hand, smoking should be made illegal by government and create few strict laws on it. In my country, the government made some rules on smoking but there is noone who follow it and careing. The smoking habit not only affect the smoker but also affect their family members and their close one's. As a result, a smoker create disease for himself and family by his own money. For instance, made illegal smoking and it's related equipment can reduce illnesses made by smoking. As a result, we could make a fresh environment for our upcoming generations.

In conclusion, smoking is a common phenomenoun in our society and in my thought it should be made illegal for residents by the government.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you completely agree that smoking should be illegal, and you give relevant reasons, including serious illnesses and harm to family members. The examples of students, adults and older people smoking, and of rules in your country not being followed, help connect the argument to real situations. However, the response addresses the issue only partially because several points are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that banning smoking and related equipment would reduce illness needs a clearer explanation of how a ban could be enforced and why it would be effective. Develop each main reason with a specific example or consequence, and acknowledge or respond to a possible concern, such as personal freedom or illegal sales, to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The contrastive opening “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” signals the paragraph topics, and the conclusion returns to your position. However, the overall progression is not always clear: the first body paragraph repeats that smoking is common, while the second moves between government rules, effects on families, a proposed ban and the environment without fully linking these points. “As a result” is also repeated, sometimes where the relationship between ideas is not clear. Organise each paragraph around one main reason, then explain and illustrate it in sequence. Use referencing and linking phrases more selectively so the connections between claims are clear rather than mechanical.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “addicted,” “public places,” “deadly diseases” and “fresh environment,” so the reader can generally understand the subject and your main points. However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation and spelling errors make parts of the response less clear or natural. For example, “a threaten problem” and “different phenomenoun” do not express the intended ideas accurately, while “strock” is a misspelling. Phrases such as “who the disadvantages of smoking” are also difficult to interpret. Build a more precise set of expressions for discussing health risks, regulation and enforcement, and check spelling and word forms. Prefer natural combinations such as “pose a serious threat” and “suffer from smoking-related illnesses.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including examples introduced with “For example” and cause-and-effect sentences beginning “As a result.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence patterns as well as in more complex attempts. Examples include “This problem create,” “the smoking habit become,” and “People from all age are addicted,” where agreement or sentence form is faulty. In “I completely agree with this view the government should be made it illegal,” two clauses are joined without correct punctuation, and the construction itself is unclear. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles, plural forms and sentence boundaries first. Then build longer sentences using clear conjunctions, checking that each clause has a complete and correctly formed structure.
