Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is argued that smoking is harmful for health and government should impose some rules and regulations to control vaping for the well being of public. I strongly believe that authorities should take precautionary measures to protect and ban smoking in public places.

Firstly, puffing not only dangerous for its addictors but its more harmful for the people around them. several people smoke in public transport, parks and even in hospitals where already valunerable individual are admitted. If government ban vaping and impose fine and punish, then smokers this issue can be resolved. Without fear of punishment no one can take care of surroundings and its also not healthy practice for the smokers, but they become addicted to puffing and without smoking they also face issues of indigestion and brain fatigue.

Secondly, some people stop smokers to smoke infront of them but the kids who are not in a position to stop their elders face bear the consequences moreover, they can also adopt the habit of smoking. Although we are living in the era of democracy where everyone have the freedom of do whatever they want, some limitation for the sake of public health should be implemented on the people to stop them from smoking and use tobbaco openly. Vape clubs are also contributing in making kids smokers and youngster are into drugs and smoke for fashion, these kind of clubs should be closed and law enforcement agencies should check and punish culprits. In numerous countries all kinds of smoking is prohibited and law breakers pay the huge fine to smoke in public places which is a beneficial for the public.

To conclude, smoking should be ban on public places to save people from disease and serious illness, however we can not stop people from smoking who are already addicted to it, therfore authorities should introduce laws for open places like parks and hospital to save public health and enviournment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support restrictions on smoking to protect public health, and you give relevant reasons involving second-hand smoke, children, and public places. The examples of hospitals, parks, and public transport help connect your argument to real situations. However, the response does not fully address the central proposal that smoking should be made illegal: much of the discussion shifts to banning smoking in public places, while your conclusion accepts that people may continue smoking if addicted. Explain more directly whether you support a complete legal ban or only restrictions, and distinguish smoking from vaping, which is introduced in the opening. Some claims, such as vape clubs leading young people to drugs, also need clearer explanation or support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “To conclude” make the main stages easy to identify, and the ideas generally progress from harm to bystanders to effects on children and public policy. However, several sentences combine multiple points, making the relationships between them less clear. For example, the second body paragraph moves from children copying adults to democracy, vape clubs, drugs, and fines without enough transitions or explanation. Some linking phrases, such as “moreover” and “however,” do not clearly show the intended relationship. Group related points more tightly and use clearer references so readers can follow how each example supports your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “public health,” “law enforcement agencies,” “addicted,” and “serious illness,” and you attempt a range of expressions to discuss regulation. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, which sometimes makes the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “harmful for health,” “puffing,” “addictors,” and “face bear the consequences”; these do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “valunerable,” “tobbaco,” and “enviournment.” Aim for precise, standard terms and check spelling carefully. Replacing informal or unclear wording with established phrases would make your argument more fluent and appropriate for an academic essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning with “Although” and “where,” and most of the argument remains understandable. However, errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms occur across the response. For instance, “government should impose” needs an article, “everyone have” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “smoking should be ban” uses the wrong verb form. Some sentences also lack clear grammatical connections, as in “If government ban vaping and impose fine and punish, then smokers this issue can be resolved.” Practise building accurate conditional sentences and checking each clause for a clear subject and verb. More reliable control of these patterns would make your complex ideas easier to understand.
