Student answer (Band 5.5)
Today smoking is become the main issue of this world. Almost thousands of peoples died due to smoking all over the world. Some peoples says it should be made illegal. In my perspectives they are true but it is almost imposible to make smoking materials illegal because almost half or one fourth population of this world addicted to this. I am in favour of this view point but they have to make some plans those we talk below.
Firstly of all smoking is very big issue all over the world . It is also very very common in students. Underage students use smoking materials like pods, wapes and much more things. I would like to emphasise that government should make some restrictions on underage students, ban all these smoking products and also seal those shops which sell these products. For instance in Pakistan Government of punjab seals all the smoking shops and made a high fine on them.
After solving students matter Government should have to increse tax on cigerattes and other products and also made some restrictions on the making of these like mitigate the quantity of tobacco in cigrattes and other products which make them less harmfull and also reduce their plants. Government should also make some hard restrictions on making of cigrette and smoking products to lessen their making.
In conclusion,i am in the favour of this view point but it is impossible to ban smoking products totally. We made some restrictions on them to lessen their use and making. Total ban on students and underage smoking products is very important.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you support making smoking illegal in principle, while arguing that a total ban would be difficult and that restrictions are more practical. You address the issue with relevant proposals, including restricting sales to underage people, increasing taxes and reducing tobacco content. The example about shops being sealed in Punjab also helps ground your argument. However, the response does not fully explain why smoking’s health effects justify prohibition, and the shift from supporting illegality to recommending regulation leaves your exact position somewhat qualified. Some proposals, such as reducing production or tobacco content, are mentioned but not explained or supported. Develop the health argument and clarify whether you favour a complete ban or a gradual set of restrictions to make the response more fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing expressions such as “Firstly” and “After solving students matter” help signal the order of your points, and the conclusion returns to your position. However, progression within the body paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow. The second paragraph moves from students to shops and then to a local example without clearly explaining how the example supports the wider proposal. The next paragraph repeats the idea of restrictions in several forms, while links between taxation, tobacco content and production are not made explicit. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each proposal to its intended effect; also avoid repeating “restrictions” without adding a distinct point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “underage students,” “tax,” “tobacco” and “government,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “make some restrictions” and “lessen their use.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes the meaning less precise. For example, “smoking materials” is vague, and “reduce their plants” does not clearly express what should be reduced. Spelling errors such as “imposible,” “cigerattes” and “harmfull” are noticeable. Build a more precise set of terms for tobacco products, sales controls and public-health effects, and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the reader can usually follow your main points. For example, the sentence beginning “Government should also make some hard restrictions” extends an idea with a purpose clause. However, there are some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. “Today smoking is become” needs a correct present-tense form, while “Some peoples says” has a plural subject with a singular verb. In “we talk below,” the tense and phrasing do not fit the context. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly around sentence openings and commas. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then build longer sentences with clear subjects and correctly formed verbs; this will make your proposals easier to understand.
