Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people believe that the inhaling of various gases can cause differnt types of problems in our body and the selling of these harmful product should be banned permanently.I totally agree with this statement and the essay will discuss about the harmfulness of it and the reason behind the smoking to be banned.
There are many people in this world who tend to smoke a lot. Some individual takes it thinking it is cool habit while others smoke because of peer pressure or due to heavy workload.People tend to smoke even after knowing the fact that it is not healthy for our health as well as it not only affect the health it also pollute the environment at the same time.A person starts to smoke when they are in lot of pressure saying smoking helps them relieve tension. However,i strongly disagree with the statement. We all are born as a human so everybody has their own problem to deal with but smoking is not the solution. They should rather go on peaceful place or try to find solution of problem rather than going for smoke.
Furthermore,Vaping not only damage the health it also cause serious damage to our money. The money that could be used in useful will be wasted there. For example:The money the money that smoker spent all his life smoking that can be saved and used for foods for pets or homeless.I have a friend who smokes a lot.Even if i ask her not to she doesnt listen to me instead gets really angry at me .So,In my perspective,Tellig the smoker to stop is somehing which is not until and unless they become aware themself. However,Government can take a crucial part here by banning all the items that are injurious to health.Additionally, education can also play a vital role here.
To sum up everything that has been stated for that,Smoking or vaping is injurious to health,It not only affect a single person but affect everyone including surrounding.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You state a clear view at the start, saying, “I totally agree,” and you give relevant reasons, including health effects, environmental harm, and the role of government and education. However, the position becomes inconsistent: you later write, “I strongly disagree with the statement,” without clarifying whether you disagree with smoking being illegal or with smoking as a response to stress. The discussion also shifts from smoking to vaping, although the prompt focuses on smoking, and the reasons for making it illegal are not fully developed. Explain the consequences of prohibition and support your main points with clearer examples. A consistent position and fuller development of the central argument would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has an introduction, body paragraphs and a concluding summary, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For example,” and “To sum up” help signal stages in the discussion. However, progression is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from reasons people smoke to stress management and then to advice about finding solutions, while the next shifts to vaping, money, a personal anecdote and government action. Some connections are unclear, particularly the transition from “I totally agree” to “I strongly disagree.” Referencing is also sometimes difficult to follow, as in “the money that could be used in useful will be wasted there.” Organise each paragraph around one main reason and use clearer links between claims and examples.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “peer pressure,” “workload,” “relieve tension,” “injurious to health,” and “vital role.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas, but word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive, which sometimes makes meaning less clear. For example, “inhaling of various gases” is an imprecise way to introduce smoking, and “used in useful” does not express the intended idea naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “differnt,” “Tellig,” and “somehing.” Aim for precise terms related to tobacco and public health, check spelling carefully, and learn common word combinations rather than translating phrases directly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including a contrast with “while others smoke because of peer pressure” and a conditional idea beginning “Even if I ask her not to.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some passages difficult to read. Examples include “Some individual takes it,” “it also affect the health,” and “Vaping not only damage the health,” where subject–verb agreement is missing. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “However,i” and the run-on sequence “So,In my perspective,Tellig…”. Practise agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, then proofread for capitalisation and punctuation. Building accurate sentences before adding complexity will improve clarity.
