Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You state a position—“I am Agree”—and refer to smoking-related illness and harm to children, so the response is connected to the topic. However, the task asks whether smoking should be made illegal, and this central question is only minimally addressed: the request to “band the smoking” is not supported with a clear explanation of why a legal ban is preferable to other measures. Several points shift to littering and smoking in public places rather than developing the health argument. The examples are difficult to follow and do not clearly support your position. The response is also below the required 250 words. To improve, explain your degree of agreement directly and develop two relevant reasons with clear examples.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an introduction followed by two body paragraphs, and signposts such as “To commance with” and “Secondly” show an attempt to organise the discussion. However, the progression within paragraphs is difficult to follow because several different points—illness, rubbish, public places, government action, and children’s studies—are joined without clear links. Repetition, especially of “which place,” also interrupts the flow. Some sentences do not make the relationship between ideas clear, so the reader has to infer how they support the argument. Use one main idea per paragraph, explain it in a logical sequence, and use linking phrases to show cause, contrast, or example rather than relying mainly on numbered transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You attempt topic-related vocabulary, including “serious illnesses,” “government,” “public place,” and “environment,” and you try to express ideas about health and public safety. However, vocabulary is basic and often repetitive, while inaccurate word choice and spelling frequently make the meaning hard to understand. For example, “smoking is the dangerous causes of the world” and “smoking is a symptom” do not express the intended ideas clearly; “symptom” is not the right word for smoking. Phrases such as “highly throw rubbish” and “extremely assent” are also unclear. Build a more accurate set of topic phrases, and check spelling and collocations. Prefer precise expressions such as “cause of disease,” “discard cigarette litter,” and “public health.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt some longer sentences and use basic connectors, but sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed, which makes several ideas difficult to interpret. Examples include “I consider are this tend” and “smoking are very serious illnesses problems”; these show problems with clause structure and subject–verb agreement. Articles, plurals, and verb forms are also inconsistent, as in “people and children life damage” and “if smoking caught our heart.” Punctuation and sentence boundaries need attention too: some sentences run together, while spaces before full stops appear in places. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clauses using “because,” “although,” and “for example.”
