Student answer (Band 5.5)
Many people have been smoking over the years and become a chain smokers which can lead to fatal health problems. Due to high risk of getting severe illness, many believe that smoking should be consider illegal and i agree with this view.
Many people have been addicted to smoking which can detoriate thier healthy lifestyle. For example, smokers have increased chances to get lung or mouth cancer. Most people lost their lives every year due to smoking cigerettes or doing vapes. The smoke that comes out from cigerette can be actively dangerous for those people who inhale the air from same environment as it also has a great chances to get their lungs affected. Furthermore, it is to believe that smoking is contagious to human wellbeing and should be considered illegal. Many youngsters start smoking for fun but they eventually becomes addicted before they know. this can ruin their academic performance and even their ability to do better in every aspect of life.
However, to stop people from smoking, governament should take various steps by closing down all the manufacterer companies so these products should not easily available or run advertisments abou how precious life is and can be detroyed by smoking. For instance, in our country, smoking products are easily available in every shop and it is very common to smoke especially among male copmmunity. To prohibit individuals , these things should be cut off from the market and governament should run campaigns by showcasing the after affects of smoking. This agenda can raise awareness among many people.
In conclusion, even though considering smoking illegal can help people to stop but it is also our moral duty to make people know the side affects of cigerettes, vapes and cigars

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear: you agree that smoking should be illegal, and you address health risks, second-hand smoke, youth addiction, and possible government action. These are relevant points, and the examples about cancer and smoking products being widely available help support your view. This meets the task well overall. To make the response more fully developed, explain the reasoning behind the proposed ban and consider its practical implications—for example, whether prohibition would reduce smoking or create an illegal market. The conclusion also introduces a slightly different emphasis on moral responsibility and awareness without clearly restating whether you support making smoking illegal. A more decisive final position and fuller development of the policy argument would strengthen the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress from health harms to government measures, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “However,” and “For instance” help signal relationships. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. “However” introduces a solution rather than a contrasting view, and “this agenda” has an imprecise reference. The first body paragraph also moves quickly from health effects to young people’s academic performance, so a clearer transition would help the reader follow the argument. Organise each paragraph around one main point, use linking words only when their meaning fits, and make references such as “these products” or “this policy” explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “fatal health problems,” “lung or mouth cancer,” “addicted,” and “raise awareness,” so the main ideas are understandable. There is also some attempt to use less common language, such as “prohibit” and “after effects.” However, the range and control are limited by repeated wording around smoking and several inaccurate or unnatural choices: “chain smokers,” “contagious to human wellbeing,” and “precious life” do not express the intended ideas naturally. Spelling errors such as “detoriate,” “cigerettes,” and “governament” are noticeable. Build a more precise set of topic collocations and check spelling; for example, use “smoking is harmful to public health” rather than “contagious to human wellbeing.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a relative clause in “The smoke that comes out from cigarette…” and a conditional structure in “Many youngsters start smoking for fun but…”. Meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries occur often enough to affect fluency. Examples include “should be consider illegal” instead of “should be considered illegal,” “they eventually becomes addicted” instead of “they eventually become addicted,” and the fragment-like lowercase “this can ruin…” after a full stop. The final sentence also needs a clearer structure: “even though considering smoking illegal can help…” is awkwardly formed. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement and complete clauses, then proofread punctuation and sentence openings.
