Student answer (Band 5.5)

Individuals believe that tabacco can cause serious illnesses and should be made illegal. I completely agree with this statement because smoking is a very harmful habit and it creates many diseases like cancer and high blood pressure, thus it is very dangerous for human health.

First argument is that the smoking creates many diseases in overall the world. First reason is that the most people smoke and take drugs when they face any difficulties and did not solve problem. These people could not struggle for their feature and other problem, thus they take drugs for taking rest because when any citizen take drugs he did not active and did not know what he do, so it effects the lungs and make cause of cancer, therefore, it is harmful for humans. For instance, when people are in young age they take drugs in fashion but afterthat they did not quit drugs and smoking.

Second argument is that the smoking is very harmful for other people which sat near the those people which take drugs and vaping it is very harmful for those people which did not smoking. This smoking is called passive smoking. Furthermore, these individuals thought that thay did not smoking and they sit near the smoking people, then it effects the lungs and many other organs of the body. This can cause by the second-hand smoking. For example, when we sit near the smoking people then they smoke after that the smoke come in our organ by inhale and breathing, therefore, it cause both people and dangerous for human health.

In conclusion, i strongly argue that smoking should be banned because no any one benefit of smoking, but it has many disadvantage thus it should be banned because it is more dangerous for human health.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you completely agree that smoking should be illegal, and you give two relevant reasons—harm to smokers and the effects of passive smoking. The examples about young people starting the habit and people inhaling smoke nearby help connect your points to real situations. However, the first argument shifts between smoking, drug use and personal difficulties, so its relevance becomes unclear; the claim that people smoke because they cannot solve problems is also not explained or supported. The second argument is more directly connected to the question, but the response does not consider why prohibition might be difficult or whether other measures could work. Develop each reason with a clearer explanation and more precise supporting evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Phrases such as “First argument,” “Second argument” and “In conclusion” make the main stages easy to identify. However, progression within the body paragraphs is uneven: the first moves from difficulties to drugs, then to smoking and cancer without clearly showing how each point connects. Linking expressions such as “thus,” “therefore” and “for instance” are repeated and sometimes join ideas whose relationship is not clear. References such as “these people” and “this smoking” can also make it difficult to identify exactly what is being discussed. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, explain it in a logical sequence, and use a wider range of accurate links.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “passive smoking,” “second-hand smoking,” “lungs” and “cancer,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “harmful,” “dangerous” and “human health.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “tabacco,” “feature” where you appear to mean “future,” and “afterthat.” Some combinations are unnatural, including “take rest” and “make cause of cancer,” and the repeated use of “drugs” blurs the distinction between drug use and smoking. Build a more precise vocabulary for health effects and smoking, and check spelling and collocations so your meaning is consistently clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences using connectors such as “because,” “when” and “therefore,” but complex sentences are often difficult to control. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in examples such as “most people smoke … and did not solve problem,” “he did not active,” and “it effects the lungs.” Articles and sentence patterns are also frequently inaccurate, as in “the smoking creates many diseases” and “it cause both people.” These errors sometimes make the relationships between ideas hard to follow. Work first on forming accurate subject–verb patterns and complete clauses, then add subordinate clauses carefully. Reading each sentence aloud and checking its subject, verb and tense would help improve control.
