Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have identified some data points, the summary is incomplete and fails to report on the main trends over the entire period (2000–2008). The analysis is limited to a few years, and the lack of a clear overview or comprehensive comparison means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure you cover the entire timeframe and provide a clear summary of the overall trends, such as the growth or decline of visitor numbers across the full period.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response lacks clear paragraphing and logical progression. While there is a basic attempt to connect ideas using 'on the other hand', the overall structure is disjointed. The sentences do not flow well, and the lack of a clear introduction or overview makes the information difficult to follow. To improve, you should organize your writing into clear paragraphs: an introduction, an overview of the main trends, and specific details. Using a wider range of cohesive devices, such as 'whereas' or 'in contrast', would help to link your ideas more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'handsome amount' are inappropriate for an academic report, as 'handsome' is typically used to describe appearance. The use of 'shocking' is also too informal and subjective for a data summary. There are errors in word choice, such as 'in start' instead of 'at the start'. To reach a higher band, you should use more precise, neutral vocabulary suitable for describing trends, such as 'significant increase', 'fluctuated', or 'remained stable', and avoid emotive language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. For example, 'the in 2000 have' is grammatically incorrect, as is 'there numbers was increased'. The sentence structure is simplistic, relying on basic subject-verb patterns. There are also issues with tense consistency and pluralization, such as 'first time visitor' (should be plural). To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure you are using the correct past tense forms when describing data from previous years. Incorporating a mix of complex sentence structures will also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
