Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the task by identifying the main trends, such as the increase in returning visitors and the fluctuations in first-time visitors. However, the data reporting is inconsistent and contains inaccuracies. For instance, you mention '12000' and 'six thousand' for 2004, and '15000' for 2008, which do not accurately reflect typical line graph data points. Furthermore, the overview is somewhat simplistic. To improve, ensure that the data points cited are precise and that the comparison between the two categories is more clearly articulated throughout the period. The summary of the main features is present but lacks the analytical depth required for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In addition it also show' and 'While on the other hand at same point'. The logical progression between sentences is sometimes disjointed, making the flow feel a bit repetitive. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'this data', 'both report') is clearer and more natural. The paragraphing is sufficient, but the internal cohesion within paragraphs needs more refinement to achieve a smoother, more professional flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'number of tourist for the first time' instead of 'number of first-time tourists', and 'sudden reduce' instead of 'sudden reduction'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word choice, such as 'states of both report'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology related to trends (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable') and ensure correct word forms are used. The range of vocabulary is limited, which restricts the ability to convey information with sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('number of re visiting people has incline', 'first time visitor were more') and missing articles ('in year 2006'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, correct article usage, and consistent punctuation will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
