Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response covers all requirements of the task. You have identified the main trends and provided data to support your points. The overview is clear, although it is split across two sentences, which slightly disrupts the flow. You successfully compared the two categories throughout the period. To improve, ensure that your overview is a single, cohesive paragraph at the beginning. Additionally, ensure that all data points are clearly linked to the years mentioned; for instance, the phrase 'before at around 15000' is missing a verb, which makes the data reporting slightly unclear. Overall, you have provided a solid summary of the graph's key features.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'meanwhile' and 'however', to link ideas. However, the paragraphing is slightly disjointed; the second paragraph starts with 'Although the number of first time visitors initially declined,' which is a sentence fragment and does not connect well to the following paragraph. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the transition between the overview and the body could be smoother. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would help improve the flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'considerably', 'sharply', and 'steadily' to describe trends. There are some minor errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'continued rise' instead of 'continued to rise' and 'before at around' which is grammatically incomplete. While you have enough vocabulary to convey your meaning clearly, the range is somewhat limited. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and a wider variety of synonyms to avoid repetition of words like 'number' and 'visitors'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are several grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. For example, the sentence 'Although the number of first time visitors initially declined' is an incomplete clause. There are also punctuation errors, such as the inconsistent spacing before commas and periods (e.g., '4000 ,'). Additionally, 'returning visitors continued rise' is missing a preposition or infinitive. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to affect the overall accuracy of your writing. Focusing on sentence structure and proofreading for minor slips will help improve your score.
