The line graph shows the number of first time visitors and returning visitors who visited Caryl Island from 2000 to 2008.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph shows the number of first time visitors and returning visitors who visited Caryl Island from 2000 to 2008.

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The line graph illustrates the number of first-time visitors and returning visitors who visited Caryl Island between 2000 and 2008.

Overall, there was an upward trend in all the figures across the period given although there were some slight fluctuations. Additionally, it is clear that 2008 received more visitors as compared to other years while 2000 recorded the lowest numbers.

The first-time visitors in 2000 were around 8000. Although the figures decreased to 4000 in 2002, they increased gradually to 6000 in 2004 and 8000 in 2006. By the end of the period, they had reached nearly 12000.

The number of returning visitors rose substantially from around 5000 in 2000 to 10000 in 2002. After that, they showed a gradual increase reaching 12000 in 2004 and by 2006 the figures were around 15000. Eventually, the number of the returning visitors dropped from around 15000 in 2006 to nearly 13500 in 2008
