Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, such as the trends for both visitor types. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks precision. For example, the description of the first-time visitors' peak is unclear, and the comparison between the two groups is underdeveloped. The summary of the data is present, but it fails to highlight the most significant trends or provide a clear overview of the overall patterns. To improve, ensure that you identify the starting and ending points more accurately and use data points to support your observations more effectively, rather than just describing the movement of the lines.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. Phrases like 'In contrary to' are used incorrectly, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the final paragraph where the comparison is left incomplete. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that guides the reader through the information logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'signifies different individuals' and 'changing the increase in number'. Additionally, there are minor errors in word choice, such as 'there numbers' instead of 'their numbers'. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited to basic descriptors. To improve, try to incorporate more precise terminology related to data trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'reached a plateau'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('the first time visitors has had'), incorrect preposition usage, and punctuation errors. The sentence structure is often repetitive, relying on basic conjunctions. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading for common errors like 'there' versus 'their'. Increasing the variety of sentence structures by using relative clauses or participial phrases would also help demonstrate better grammatical control.
