Student answer (Band 6.0)

The given line graph represents the counts of first-time and repeated travelers of Caryl Island between 2000 and 2008.

Overall, the first-time visitors dropped during the initial years and rose steeply in the later years. Alternatively, the returning visitors grew rapidly for more than half of the period and then deteriorated sharply.

Turning to details, the new visitors decreased from 8000 in the year 2000 to 4000 in 2002 followed by a rise to 6000 by the year 2004. From 2004 to 2006, the number of fist time visitors surged to 10000. Finally, it escalated to 12000 by the year 2008.

Moving further with details, the number of returning visitors grew from 3000 in the year 2000 to 10000 by the year 2002. A gradual increase in number of repeated travelers was observed from 10000 in 2002 to 12000 in 2004 followed by a surge from 2004 to 2006, which resulted in 15000 visitors overall. However, it dropped rapidly from 15000 visitors in 2006 to almost 13000 returning visitors in 2008.
