Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the task. While you have identified the main trends, the description of the data is often confusing and inaccurate. For instance, you mention a 'dramatically change' but the specific figures provided are often contradictory or unclear. The overview is present but lacks sufficient detail to fully satisfy the requirements of an Academic Task 1. To improve, ensure you provide a clear, accurate summary of the key features and support your points with precise data points from the graph, ensuring you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently interrupted by unclear referencing and awkward transitions. Phrases like 'Turning to' and 'Furthermore' are used, but they do not always connect the ideas effectively. The sentences often feel disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the data. To improve, focus on using cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus. Additionally, avoid repetitive sentence structures and ensure that your pronouns clearly refer back to the subjects previously mentioned.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'increased' and 'decreased'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and phrasing, such as 'highest figure' and 'dramatically changed occurred'. Some terms are used incorrectly in context, which hinders the clarity of your report. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'a significant rise'. Focus on learning collocations related to data description to improve precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence construction. For example, 'the given line illustrates the number of who visit' is grammatically incorrect. Many sentences are fragmented or lack the necessary structure to convey complex information clearly. While you attempt to use some complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to confusion. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures before attempting more complex ones, and pay close attention to verb tenses and the correct use of prepositions when describing data.
