Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the main features of the graph, but the information provided is often inaccurate or confusing. For example, the description of first-time visitors in 2000 as '8000' and the subsequent trends are difficult to follow and do not clearly reflect the data provided in the prompt. While the response identifies the two categories, the lack of clarity in reporting the figures and the failure to provide a clear, accurate overview of the trends significantly hinders the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on accurately transcribing data points and identifying the most significant trends (e.g., overall growth or specific peaks) rather than listing every year in a disjointed manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or incorrect, such as the repetitive use of 'moreover' and 'in' to introduce data. The sentences are frequently disjointed, making it difficult to follow the narrative of the graph. The overview is also poorly integrated, appearing as a separate, confusing paragraph rather than a clear summary of the main trends. Improving the use of linking words like 'consequently,' 'in contrast,' or 'subsequently' would help create a smoother flow between sentences and paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'first time individuals are go to visit' and 'individual are most of returning all years are high.' These errors sometimes make the meaning unclear. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends effectively; for instance, using 'rose' or 'drop' repeatedly without variation. To reach a higher band, you should learn specific collocations for describing graphs, such as 'witnessed a significant increase,' 'fluctuated,' or 'reached a peak of.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'are rose'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., '2000 years very low in 3000 people'). Subject-verb agreement is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally discernible, the high frequency of errors causes some difficulty for the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring consistent tense usage when describing past data, and practicing the correct placement of prepositions when discussing figures and dates.
