Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the graph, identifying the trends for both visitor types. However, the data reporting is inconsistent and sometimes inaccurate. For instance, the description of the first-time visitors' trend is confusing, mentioning 2002 twice with contradictory information. The overview is present but lacks clarity, and the data points (e.g., '2000-3000') are presented in a vague manner rather than precise figures. To improve, ensure that the data points are clearly linked to specific years and that the trends are described with greater precision and logical flow.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical. Phrases like 'moreover' and 'at last year' are used, but the transition between ideas is often abrupt. The concluding paragraph is labelled as 'Conclusion', which is unnecessary in an Academic Task 1 response. The logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of varied linking words, making the overall flow feel somewhat disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. There are several errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'statics of number' instead of 'statistics regarding the number', and 'visitors enrollment' which is not appropriate in this context. The phrasing 'slightly low' is imprecise for describing a trend. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of range and the presence of errors in basic terminology prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Using more precise academic vocabulary would significantly enhance the quality of the report.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include missing articles ('in 2002 numbers of individuals'), incorrect verb tenses ('it starting slow down'), and awkward sentence construction ('The number of visitors who visited the place already and came again for visit in number these person were more'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing full stops and commas. These errors occasionally cause the reader to pause, though the overall message remains understandable.
