Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it is only 94 words long and remains unfinished. Consequently, the task is not fully addressed. While there is an attempt to identify an overall trend, the description of the data is fragmented and incomplete. Key features, such as the intersection points or the final trends for both categories, are not adequately reported. The failure to complete the summary significantly impacts the ability to provide a clear overview or detailed comparison of the data provided in the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical structure due to its incomplete nature. While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', and 'Secondly', these are used mechanically and do not effectively link the ideas. The paragraphing is disjointed, and the abrupt ending prevents the development of a coherent argument or summary. The progression of information is unclear, and the referencing of data points is often confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the intended comparison between the two groups of visitors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. Phrases like 'ratio of the return back and go first time' are unnatural and imprecise. The student struggles to use appropriate terminology for describing trends, such as '8000 numbers of people' or 'start up to 10000'. There is a lack of variety in the language used to describe the movement of the lines on the graph. To improve, the student needs to focus on using precise nouns and verbs related to data analysis, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('it increase', 'it start up'), incorrect preposition usage ('in 2000 to 2008'), and awkward sentence construction ('the visitors start going to island'). The range of structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent. The lack of control over basic sentence structure makes the text difficult to read and understand, preventing the student from demonstrating a wider range of complex grammatical forms.
