Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, such as the trends for both visitor types. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, the statement that 'returning visitors had the highest number' is contradicted by the data in the early years of the graph. Additionally, the summary of the trends is slightly inaccurate in places, such as the description of the 2006 peak. While the key features are identified, the lack of precision in reporting the data points and the slight misinterpretation of the overall trends prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure that data points are cited accurately and that comparisons are logically consistent with the visual information provided.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'In 2000' and 'However'. The transition between ideas is sometimes abrupt, and the concluding paragraph contains confusing phrasing, such as 'It it shown that it had the increase of numbers of visitor'. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'it') is clear would enhance the flow and coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'had visiting the Caryl Island' and 'had the highest peak'. The range of vocabulary is limited, relying on basic descriptors like 'highest' and 'lowest'. To achieve a higher band, you should incorporate more precise reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'a marginal decline', or 'a significant surge'. Additionally, ensure that word forms are used correctly to avoid errors that occasionally distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'visitors who had visiting', 'It it shown', and 'visitors who is returning'. Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a lack of control over more complex structures. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
