Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, but the data reporting is frequently inaccurate. For instance, you mention first-time visitors were 'around 8000' in 2000, which is correct, but then state they reached '10000' in 2008, whereas the graph shows a different trend. Furthermore, the data for returning visitors is confusingly presented, with figures like '10000 to 12000' in 2002 that do not align with the visual evidence. While you attempt to summarize the trends, the lack of precision in reporting the data points significantly hinders the task achievement. To improve, ensure you carefully cross-reference your written figures with the graph axes.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused. Phrases like 'To begin with' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is frequently disrupted by inaccurate data reporting and awkward transitions. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the jump between years is abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'in contrast', 'meanwhile') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, logical progression of ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision required for a higher band. You use some relevant terms like 'fluctuation', 'drastically', and 'increased', but there are also instances of word-choice errors, such as 'highly in numbers' instead of 'high in number' and 'uprise' instead of 'rise'. Additionally, there are spelling errors like 'illustrastes' and 'visisted'. To improve, focus on learning collocations related to data description (e.g., 'a significant increase', 'a steady decline') and proofread your work to eliminate basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('First time visitors has'), incorrect tense usage, and awkward sentence construction ('the group of individuals havered between'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing past trends.
