Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, such as the trends for both visitor types. However, the reporting of data is often imprecise, such as 'something between 14000 to 16000' or 'around between 14000 - 12000'. The overview is present but lacks clarity due to grammatical issues. While the main trends are identified, the lack of precision in describing the data points and the somewhat disjointed presentation of figures prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure that data points are described accurately and that the overview clearly highlights the most significant differences or trends without relying on vague estimations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression is hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical use of cohesive devices. For example, 'After that, they hay significant climb are display on this graph' is difficult to follow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'In contrast' and 'On the other hand', the overall flow is often interrupted by grammatical errors, making the text feel somewhat disjointed.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. The student relies on basic terms such as 'figure', 'graph line', and 'number'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'they hay significant climb' (should be 'there was a significant climb') and 'the figure in fall down'. The range of vocabulary is just adequate to convey the basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. To improve, the student should learn more varied ways to describe trends, such as 'fluctuate', 'plateau', or 'dramatic increase'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement ('the number of first-time visitors... are display'), tense usage ('the figure in fall down'), and sentence structure ('the graph line of returning visitor is also have surge'). While some simple sentences are clear, the attempts at more complex structures are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent. A significant focus on basic sentence construction and verb tenses is necessary to improve clarity and accuracy.
