Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the graph, including the trends for both visitor types. However, the report is incomplete as it cuts off abruptly at the end, failing to provide a full overview or a concluding summary. While the key data points are identified, the lack of a proper conclusion and the incomplete final sentence prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure you include a clear overview paragraph that highlights the most significant trends and ensure the response is fully finished.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally awkward, such as 'in the same year the tourists who were visiting Caryl Island again was below to 4000'. The progression of ideas is logical, but the abrupt ending significantly disrupts the overall coherence of the piece. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring a smooth transition between sentences would improve the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'returning amount of travellers' and 'revisit people'. The student relies on repetitive structures and basic descriptors. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary, such as 'fluctuated', 'witnessed a decline', or 'the majority of visitors'. Spelling is generally accurate, but word choice needs refinement to sound more natural and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the amount of tourists who were visiting first time' (should be 'first-time visitors') and 'below to 4000' (incorrect preposition). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors limits the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be beneficial.
